Rosé Wines – Dry, not Sweet!

Summer time foods…seafood, of course…how about “seafood soup” better known as bouillabaisse?  This French classic is not widely served in America, but on the Riviera coasts of Spain, France, and Italy it is enjoyed by vacationers as much as fried clams are here.  If you do visit this vacation wonderland on the Mediterranean you will see almost everyone enjoying a glass of rosé wine with their bouillabaisse or anything else they are eating as well as a glass just by itself.  Yes, the “pink” stuff, but not at all the sweet and sugary pink wines that most Americans know.  These rosé wines are perfectly dry, totally refreshing, wonderful food companions or summertime quaffers that sing of strawberries, cherries, tangerines, and fresh herbs.  Yes, Virginia, there definitely are such dry, food-complimentary rosé wines and we have one of the largest selections in the state.  For you wine-and-food adventurers, do yourself a favor… pickup one or two of these pink or salmon or orange or coral-colored treats, prepare a favorite seafood meal, sit back on a hot summer afternoon or evening and imagine you are on a Mediterranean beachfront enjoying “La Dolce Vita” – you deserve it!
