Does choosing a wine to serve during the
Holidays ...
Drive You Nuts? |

Well you are not alone. Too many people fuss over the
issue year in and year out. There's no need to fuss over certain brands or a set price.
Remember wine is a part of the food and you should choose a wine or wines that you like
and not necessarily what people say you should like. If you don't like fish then you
probably won't eat fish. Wine is very similar to food. Red wines don't have to be served
with just pasta and meats just like white doesn't have to be served with poultry or fish.
If you don't know what you like I suggest you explain to your local retailer what
you don't like about certain wines and they should be able to guide you in the right
direction.
If you are trying to bring or serve wines that are popular you can't go wrong with
choosing a few of the main varietals (Merlot, Cabernet, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot
Grigio, Shiraz-Syrah, Sangiovese-Chianti, Zinfandel, etc.) There are many books and
magazines to use as references that can help you choose what wine will suit your tastes.
These references will supply you with tasting notes, vintage, producer, and food parings.
There are no set rules. Wine should be fun and not stressful.
Always find a retailer you can trust because they taste wines on a regular basis and can
always find something to meet your price range and taste. If you have any questions you
can call Stamford Wine any time and our knowledgeable staff can always help. You can also
e-mail me me any time with comments, suggestions, or questions at wineguy@optonline.net and I will get back to you
as soon as possible. Remember there are no stupid questions only the ones you never ask. |
Happy Holidays,
