Norwalk and Historic
South Norwalk, CT Restaurants

South Norwalk might have looked like this!
There are few cities that offer
such a dynamic mix of heritage,
nature, art and action as
Fairfield County’s
Norwalk.
The city literally bristles with
the opportunities to literally
plunge into a heady atmosphere
where the past is in the present
and the present is often in –
the sea! The centerpiece of this
“Living Legend” is South
Norwalk’s historically reclaimed
So No district with its with
hip, high quality restaurants
and shops. So No is
anchored by the Maritime
Aquarium and IMAX Theatre, which
invites visitors of all ages to
become immersed in sea life.
Adjacent to the Aquarium, on a
bluff overlooking the Norwalk
River is Oyster Shell Park where
trails and walkways wind through
marsh grasses, reeds and
wildflowers. The park
abounds with migratory birds,
fiddler crabs and other aquatic
life. From this bluff is a
view of Norwalk Harbor, “The
Jewel of Long Island Sound.
And out beyond the harbor are a
string of five islands with
Sheffield, the largest, home to
a lighthouse as well as many
nesting birds and wintering
harbor seals.
What else is there to see and do
in Norwalk? Well, let’s
see.
There is: The
Lockwood-Matthews Mansion
Museum – Victorian splendor at
its finest, the Jackie Robinson
Jazz Festival, the Mill Hill
Historic Park, the Norwalk
Harbor Splash Festival, The
Norwalk Museum in Historic So
No, Shakespeare on the Sound,
the Silvermine Guild Arts
Center, the Steppingstone Museum
for Children and of course the
Norwalk
Oyster Festival.
