Hartford, CT Restaurants, Hartford County Restaurant Menus & Dining
For many of us from
distant counties, Hartford is merely a glimpse of that baby blue dome (the
former Colt factory) that faces the Connecticut River as we pass by on I 91,
bound for distant points. But our state capitol
is also a capital cultural Mecca. To begin with, the Wadsworth
Anteneum is a world class gem of a public art museum, and in fact is the
country’s oldest, with America’s first acquisitions of Dali, Caravaggio and Miro
to say nothing of a major collection of the scenic Hudson River School
paintings. Add to that such concert and theatrical riches as the Bushnell,
the Hartford Civic Center, Hartford Stage, Meadows Music Theater, the Dodge
Music Center, the Hartford Children’s Theatre, and you will find that Hartford
can certainly keep you busy, entertained and enriched. If you want to step back
in time, there are the Mark Twain and Harriet Beecher Stowe houses. If you
want to stop and smell the roses, go to Elizabeth Park with one of America’s
largest rose gardens.
Hartford is certainly a place to go to rather than by!
