History of La
Panetière

La Panetière, located in lower
Westchester County, was opened in 1985. The structure of the building dates back to the
1800's and was the home of a ship builder.
The restaurant's ambience and decor focuses entirely on "Provence": this part of
the world thought after for its typical folklore. Therefore you will notice that from
furniture to china to terra cotta to santons all come from this area epitomized by a
"Panetière" (the bread cabinet) symbolizing a warm house welcome that can be
seen hanging on the bar's wall along with the other bibelots seen through the restaurant; some
of which are available for sale.
The cuisine is contemporary french, and the dishes change with the season reflecting upon
products purchased from market-gardeners, fishermen, free-range poultry farmers, and other
purveyors who deserve the respect of their authentic products.
The dining room on the first floor is separated by hand-painted fresco arches, supported
by original beams, and furnished with a working buffet, paintings, and tapestries giving
it the feel of an Auberge.
The second floor dining room has been built with a greenhouse effect, giving it a feeling
of open spaciousness. This room is mostly used for private parties and can accommodate up
to 50 persons. There is also on the same floor a smaller private room that can accommodate
up to 20 persons.
