Georgetown

Georgetown, Ct. the home of the old Gilbert & Bennet Manufacturing Company sits at the corners of Redding, Weston and Wilton. The town has a couple of restaurants, a deli, pizzeria, a lumberyard, a beautifully maintained fire station with seven bays and no stoplights! As you drive through the steep hills you may see a beautiful old barn like the one on the left sitting on the edge of the Norwalk River. The old wire mill itself sits on the river damning it for its power. Built in 1870 and closed in 1989 due to increasing operational costs, there is approval for renovation of the old mill which will house new luxury homes and preserve the historic brick buildings as retail shops. This as well as the Meadow Ridge Lifecare Facility project will bring new economic growth to Georgetown.
