What's on the menu in Fairfield County -
Restaurant reviews, food and wine events, and the latest in restaurant news!
Fairfield County has established itself as
one of New England's most popular culinary destinations. From pubs to
bistros, ethnic to California cuisine, Zagats to local reviews, Fairfield
County has it all! Restaurant owners attribute the high demand for quality
restaurants in this area to the array of educated palates and cosmopolitan
communities. People here know and appreciate good food and wine. The most
prestigious chefs from New York - Brendan Walsh, Nicola Zanghi, Bernard
Bouissou and more! - have discovered our
unique community and are making themselves at home while making us the
culinary capital of Connecticut.
With so many restaurants to experience, The Dining Room is a place to
learn about new restaurants in and around Fairfield County, as well as some
old favorites and too many neglected gems. There's no star, number, or any
rating system for that matter - simply one food writer's observations and
opinions. While it is true that most of our local restaurant reporters do
not have any food backgrounds whatsoever, my background is in the food and
wine industries. So, it is with knowledge, passion, and a great deal of
enjoyment that I will be introducing these restaurants to you.
I am only one palate and my tastes will no doubt differ from yours. My aim
is to report the information to you with the ultimate goal of peaking your
curiosity. You may find out that you have the same taste in restaurants as I
do! Or, you may realize that what's "energizing" to me, may be "extremely
noisy" in your opinion. Or, that my "boldly flavored cuisine" is "too spicy"
for you. Perhaps my delight over an "innovative" menu is just flat out "over
the top" to you. Whatever the case, food and wine are a matter of taste,
atmosphere is a matter of perception, and service is a matter timing (and
training!) - therefore, they must all be experienced.
Linda Pernice Kavanagh has been singing the praises of
talented chefs and restaurateurs for years. Having worked her way through
the wacky hospitality world, Linda is the owner of MaxEx Public Relations,

tooting the horn of an industry they hold so dear. Based in Fairfield County
Connecticut, Linda has been keeping her finger on the pulse of a thriving
culinary scene and writing for various publications throughout CT as well as
territories in New York, Boston, and Central Florida. She has garnered
numerous awards including The North American Travel Journalists
Association's Award of Excellence for General Trade Story, 2 years in a row.

Magazine, Food and Beverage International, Restaurant Forum, and, of course,
Culinarymenus.com. She is a director for the CT chapter of the American
Institute of Wine & Food and she is the director for Fairfield County's
Taste of the Nation on behalf of SOS.
