Located less than 1 mile from the center of Amherst, Amherst College & the University of Massachusetts, the University Lodge is perfect for those needing downtown access. This small New England hotel offers 20 exterior access guestrooms featuring two double beds, private bath, in-room heat & air conditioning control, cable tv with remote, coffeemakers, radio-alarm clocks and telephones. Complimentary Internet access and a computer are available for guest use in the main office. The hotel offers wake-up service, faxes, free morning coffee in the main office, and free parking. Pets are welcome, upon request, in our smoking permissible room for an additional $20 per night. Please note: The office is open from 8AM to 9PM daily with a 24 hour answering service. Those arriving after 9pm should check in at Howard Johnson, 401 Russell Street, Route 9, in Hadley, MA. =Howard Johnson does not provided shuttle service to the Lodge. However, the Lodge rate would be honored, based upon availability, at Howard Johnson for those arriving after 9pm. All reservations require a valid credit card at time of reservation and at check-in. There is a minimum age requirement of 18. Our friendly staff will help you with all your travel needs. Check-in 3pm to 9pm. After 9pm, guests should check-in at the Howard Johnson located at 401 Russell Street in Hadley. Transportation is not provided.

    From Hartford International-BDL Take I-91 North to Massachusetts, take exit 19, turn right onto Route 9 East, at the seventh traffic light, also the intersection of Routes 9E and 116N, go left onto Route 116North. Travel approximately 11/2 miles, take the first exit, UMass exit, bare right at the end of the ramp, travel to the third traffic light. Go straight through this light, the second driveway on the left will be the University Lodge. Located adjacent to downtown Amherst as well as the campus of the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Whether you are on the Lower, Mid or Upper Cape, you have the Atlantic on one side and the Cape Cod Bay on the other with miles and miles of "Cooky Pines" whispering in the breezes. Visit Nauset Beach in Orleans or enjoy a drink at the Beachcomber at the Cahoon Hollow Beach in Wellfleet, both on the ocean side. Catch the sunset in Dennis on the bayside or take a drive to Race Point in Provincetown and listen to the roar of the ocean surf. Shop till you drop while in "P" Town, take an exciting whale watch out of the harbor or simply just stay in town and people watch!! Visit the monument in Provincetown where you can get absolutely spectacular views, but bring your climbing shoes, cause stairs are the only way up!!! If you are in need to get to a Mall for more shopping, Hyannis can take care of that. Follow Rt. 28 for antiquing and quaint shopping while traveling to Woods Hole where you catch the ferry to Martha's Vineyard! You can go to either Vineyard Haven or Oak Bluffs. Arriving in Vineyard Haven you can visit the village where you will find the well known BLACK DOG Restaurant. Make sure you get a shirt!!! At Oak Bluffs you can visit the Flying Horses Carousel, the nation's oldest operating platform carousel, as well as a journey up Circuit Ave to shop and eat! Outside the main street in town, you will find the beautiful, brightly colored, gingerbread cottages. The "most perfectly preserved collection of Carpenter Gothic style architecture in the world". You can visit Edgartown, another quaint village with restaurants, boutiques, and the Wharf. You can sit and watch the boats and the comings and goings of Katama Bay. You can also get on the Ferry and go to Chappaquidick, sit on the beaches of Wasque Point or bring your fishing pole .. this is a favorite spot for blue fishing. Outside of Edgartown visit South beach, sunbath, swim or just sit and enjoy the sound of the waves and the ocean breeze. Traveling around the Island, your next stop could be Gay Head Cliffs where you are overlooking the ocean and the dunes. It is the most dramatic point on the island. At sunset visit Menemsha. Witness a spectacular, natural light show when the sun meets the ocean! Nantucket is smaller, but some feel it is quainter than Martha's Vineyard where sea captain's houses line the cobblestone streets.
