The order's been hanging up for an hour.

Chef wants to know why? and says "What's going on with the duece at 33?"

Waitress says "Hold the fire"

15 minutes later waitress returns to the kitchen and says "fire the duece at 33"

More Lingo....


"On the Line" - Where the action is!
"86"- It's not Available or We are sold out
"Down the Hudson" - Garbage Disposal Material!
"Working" - example "6 Steaks Working" means 6 Steaks under fire! Hopefully not ON Fire!
"Duece" - A Two Top! - There's two diners patiently waiting for their meal!
"All Day" - Total amount of an item ordered by the waitstaff
"Hold the Fire" - Put a hold on it Diners maybe enjoying a few liquid ozs or bottles, or conversing business like or otherwise like or romantically having a moment!!!!
"Fire" - Finish It! Start the last stage of cooking
"Walking" - It's coming off the heat and going to the plate
"Black and Blue" - Steak darkly seared on the outside and raw on the inside
"Burn It" - Steak very well done
