Wine Regions of Spain |
|
Rioja 1
The wines of Rioja are both
elegant and complex. The wines are made with
Tempranillo grapes and are oak aged, giving the
wines a good balance of fruit, vanilla and
toast. |
Ribera del Duero 2
One of the most renowned wine
regions in the world. Tempranillo (called Tinto
Fino here) is the main grape used. The severe
climate produces wines of concentration, deep
color and firm tannins. |
Rueda 3
Verdejo and Viura are the main
grapes which produce white wines that are dry,
crisp and distinctively herbaceous, not unlike
Sauvignon Blanc. |
Cava 4
Made by the traditional Methode
Champenoise from the native grapes, Macabeo,
Xarel-lo and Parellada in the area of Penedes
result in sparkling wines that are dry and
crisp. |
Penedes 4
The region slopes upwards from
the Mediterranean coast, southwest of Barcelona.
Grapes like Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and
Merlot are used to produce very high quality
wines. |
|
|
Rias Baixas 5
Located in the Northwest of
Spain, the Atlantic provides a cool climate for
the Albarino grape & its fragrant, intensely
fruity, dry white wines.
|
 |
Priorat 8
Steeply terraced small holdings
are planted with Garnacha and Carinera. The
wines are intense, deep colored and have a high
concentration of aromas, flavors and remarkable
depth.
|
|
Valdeorras 6
In the Northwest region known as
Galicia, Godello grapes grow in steeply terraced
vineyards producing aromatic, crisp wines.
Excellent with seafood |
|
Jumilla 7
The extreme climate of
this region results in wines that are
intensely ripe and fruity. |
Xeres 9
The hot, dry soils of
Andalusia produce Spain’s most famous
beverage, Xeres, or “sherry” |
|

quality aged for at
least two years in oak
cask followed by a
minimum of three years
in bottle. |
